Today, we begin again . . . .

"Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself: I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it."

-Groucho Marx

No worries . . . .

Do not be anxious or frustrated if you don't know what it is you want. We learn to find what we want, and where we need to be, by experiencing what we DON'T want and what DOESN'T work. Continue to refuse to settle for those things that you know you don't want in your life, and the things that won't work for you, and you will steadily move toward where you are supposed to be.

Happy Friday!
Wishing you a lovely weekend!

Repeat after me . . . .

"You need to learn how to select your thoughts just the same way you select what clothes you're gonna wear every day. This is a power you can cultivate. If you want to control things in your life so bad, work on the mind. That's the only thing you should be trying to control. Drop everything else but that. Because if you can't learn to master your thinking, you're in deep trouble forever."

Repeat after me........
I will not harbor unhealthy thoughts anymore.

"(My mind) is a peaceful harbor, the entryway to a fine and proud island, (which is my Self), that is only now beginning to cultivate tranquillity. If you can abide by these new laws, my dear thoughts, then you are welcome in my mind -- otherwise, I shall turn you all back toward the sea from whence you came."

Pure Pleasures of white . . . .

Billowing drapes in a warm breeze.

Fresh snow on a sunny day.

Bubbles in a warm bath.

Tiny white lights .... used anywhere, anytime.

A man's dress shirt (worn like this).

The blank pages of a new journal.

Pearls.

The frothy top of a cappuccino.

When soft, white flannel sheets are this inviting.

Discover the perfection of life itself . . . .

You probably already know that the need for perfection and the desire for inner tranquility conflict with each other. Whenever we are attached to having something a certain way, better than it already is, we are, almost by definition, engaged in a losing battle. Insisting on perfection, rather than being content and grateful for what we have, means we are focused on what's wrong with something and our need to fix it. When we are zeroed in on what's wrong, it implies that we are dissatisfied and discontent. Whether it's related to ourselves -- a disorganized closet, a scratch on the car, an imperfect accomplishment, a few pounds we would like to lose -- or someone else's "imperfections" -- the way someone looks, behaves, or lives their life -- the very act of focusing on imperfection pulls us away from our goal of being kind and gentle. Catch yourself when you fall into the habit of insisting that things should be other than they are. Gently remind yourself that life is okay the way it is, right now. This strategy has nothing to do with ceasing to do your very best, but rather with being overly attached and focused on what's wrong with life. It's about realizing that while there's always a better way to do something, this doesn't mean that you can't enjoy and appreciate the way things already are.

As you begin to eliminate your need for perfection in all areas of your life, you'll begin to discover the perfection of life itself.

Life needs you . . . .

To get a handle on your fears, embrace them. Look them in the eye. Love and understand them. You've given them birth, and you've given them a reason to be in your life. Seek out that reason. Why are you afraid? What are you really afraid of? How might you have ever come to believe that your happiness was dependent upon something or someone outside of you? When you see yourself as you truly are --- unlimited, forever, and abundant --- fears and doubts will no longer cling to you for their meaning, and your natural confidence, joy, and harmony will reign supreme.
Life needs you. We all need you.

Would you ever worry again, if you absolutely knew --- really, really knew --- that you've made no mistakes? That no matter what challenges have come your way or may come your way, all will add to your joy tomorrow? That all you have to do to live the life of your dreams is make the decision? That you've already made the difference in the world that you now hope to make? That one day, everything will make perfect sense and you'll be glad for all of it? That there is no judgment apart from what you dish out to yourself? That you are now adored more than you can possibly comprehend? That new friends and the happiest of times lie ahead?
It's time you knew!

Life needs you, entirely.

Henry David Thoreau mused that one of the greatest miracles would be if we could actually look through each other's eyes for an instant. Ironically, the best way to see the world through each other's eyes may be with our ears, by listening, really listening to each other.

Listening is not just etiquette; it's a way of loving, honoring and respecting. It's a way of bonding and connecting. It's a way of sharing ourselves and our humanity.

Ways to listen with compassion, understanding and intention:

- Be present. Give the speaker your full attention.
- Show a genuine interest. Encourage the speaker.
- Listen with all your heart.
- Make it safe for the speaker to share his or her thoughts and feelings.
- Listen to every word without interrupting or wishing to speak yourself.
- When the speaker has finished, acknowledge what you heard without judging or correcting.

Wisdom is reward you get for a lifetime of listening when you'd have preferred to talk.
-Doug Larson

Some things have to be believed to be seen . . . .

There's a lot in this world we can't see. But just because we can't see something, or hold it in our hands, doesn't mean it's not there. We used to think that "seeing is believing," but now we know that "believing is seeing." As architect Frank Lloyd Wright put it: "The thing always happens that you really believe in; and the belief in a thing makes it happen." This is especially true in difficult times. There are days when all you can see with your eyes are the problems. But if you look with your heart, you will see that the miraculous is all around you. Despite our problems, there is still so much courage, goodness and possibility in each of us that if we could see its glow, it would light the world.

In good times or bad, the story of the human spirit is the story of people who believe in themselves and in one another. Today, give your family and friends the gift of affirming your faith in them. Remind them that their hopes, dreams and aspirations are not just believable, but achievable. Inspire them to believe that the best is yet to be...that there's light at the end of the tunnel...and that they might be that light for someone else.
